HISTORY OF THE VIBRATOR

Women certainly did not begin only in the 19th century to satisfy themselves, however, only in 1869 was the first vibrator invented.

And, since men always knew what women wanted, the inventor was a man. An American doctor devised a steam-driven, large, heavy vibrator, which was employed only in hospitals for medical purposes and which was completely unsuitable for domestic purposes. But for what purpose should such a piece of equipment be used in hospitals? Of course for the processing of most varied of feminine complaints - for example, hysteria.

Generally it was accepted in medical circles that a massaging of the sex organs should have a healing effect. Thus the common orgasm was prescribed for numerous women. And how better should that be achieved, than with a vibrator? The vibrator was made accessible to the wider public of women only at the beginning of the 20th century. Next to the sewing machine, the tea maker and toaster, it was one of the first devices for which one had to employ house electricity.

The first vibrator was a mixture of ventilator and percussion drill and looked thus rather like a tool. By the middle of the 1920's women could purchase a vibrator very simply and easily by mail order. Information about said products was received by customers in women's journals and household magazines.

The statement in the media was that vibrators are generally good for the well-being of women. However, when vibrators were employed in pornographic films, the subject became taboo from one day to the next. The vibrators which women can buy today first arose around 1966. The vibrator has had a revival in the past decades. This has naturally been associated with the sexual revolution, the emancipation of women and also with technical progress. Today vibes are small, waterproof, cordless and available in all colors.

BEYOND THE BASICS. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX TOYS.
Whether you are just beginning with toys, an intermediate user or a pro, we believe you should have as much information you need to make the right choices when it comes to lubricants, vibrators and other sensual objects. We truly believe with enough knowledge, anyone can enhance their sexual pleasure.

VIBRATORS VS. DILDOS. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
A vibrator is any device or machine that causes a vibratory motion or action used for inducing pleasure or relaxation. Some vibrators require batteries, while others can be rechargeable or plug-ins... Dildos are sex toys that come in the shape of a penis or rounded shape. It can be made of plastic or another material and put inside an anus or a vagina.

TOYS
Plug-In Vibrators
There are two types of vibrators that require cords. One type needs to be plugged into a wall socket in order to use—like the Hitachi Magic Wand. The other type is cordless but rechargeable.

Waterproof/Shower proof Vibrators
There are indeed “waterproof” vibrators in the market today for fun play in the tub or shower. Be aware that there is a difference between waterproof and shower proof (water-resistant.) Waterproof means the toy can be fully submerged into water whereas, shower proof (water resistant) means the toy is shower friendly and is not be used in submerged water conditions. Dildos, which don’t require batteries, are both waterproof and shower proof. Be safe and read the information on your toy. The Paris Pink- I Rub My Duckie, is a good example of a fully waterproof toy.

Hand Held Wands
The Hitachi Magic Wand is an excellent example of a hand wand vibrator/massager. The Hitachi is made by Vibratex and is the number one selling vibrator. Wand vibrators are easy to hold, discreet, plug in and have a massaging head, usually the size of a tennis ball. They don’t require batteries and attachments are usually available. Wands provide pleasure to your erogenous zones as well as your aching body. Wands provide intense vibrations; we suggest starting slowly with the lowest setting and working your way up.

Double Headers
Are similar to hand wands with the exception that it has two vibrating heads, one for genital and the other for anal massage. It packs double the pleasure!

Dual Action
Not to be confused with double headers mentioned above. Dual Action vibrators have the classic vaginal penetration head as well as a clitoral stimulator. Dual action vibrators like the Vibratex Rabbit Habit have rotating band of pearls located approximately 3 inches below the shaft stimulating the sensitive nerve endings and a fun little critter shaped clitoral stimulator perfectly spaced apart to provide incredible pleasure and orgasms.

Cylindrical Vibrators
One of the most commonly used vibrators. Cylindrical vibrators range from 4 to 8 inches long and come in a variety of materials from smooth chrome to glass. Used for both internal and external pleasure. The Cyberskin Virtual Reality Sex Kit includes both a cylindrical vibe and a pleasure sleeve.

Realistic Vibrators
Realistic vibrators refer to vibrators that are created to look much like a real penis, with veins and all. They are available from the lightest skin tone to the darkest. Realistic vibes are the perfect choice for individuals that want the feel of a vibrator with the visual stimulus of the penis shape.

Contour Vibrators
Some great examples of a contour vibrator are the Layaspot and Leylo Nea. Contours provide gentle to strong pulsations specifically for the clitoris. They are discreet in shape and sound and are battery operated.

Swedish Pleasurizers
For both men and women who enjoy masturbating, Swedish Pleasurizers provide pulsating action and is a great enhancer to traditional masturbation. Pleasurizers usually the toy straps onto your hand or finger. For an example, see our Fukuoku 9000 massager, which comes with 4 individual finger slips.

Battery Powered Eggs and Bullets
These mini sized pleasers come in a variety of shapes, materials, textures and colors. A favorite for many women wanting clitoral stimulation, these vibes are and not produced for vaginal or anal insertion. They come in either a hand-held device with a cord or Cordless (watch battery operated). Check out our fun, compatible Dead Batteries. The Screaming O Mini Bullet comes with an incredibly super-powered motor and is wireless and waterproof.

Mini Massagers
Mini massagers are just that . . . mini. They discreetly slip into a pocket or purse without much notice and are perfect for women on the go. They are available in different shapes like the discreet Lipstick Vibe and others come with fun attachments like the Athena Waterproof Mini.

Advanced Pulsars
Vibrators using advanced pulsar action are a bit more expensive. What advance pulsars allows the user to do is set personal settings controlling rotation, gyrating, pulsation and vibrations. These are ideal for people who know exactly what they like.

The G-Spot
If you've tried to find your G-Spot on your own, it can be rather difficult trying to reach it with your fingers. For many women it is difficult to stimulate the G-Spot in a normal position and is best achieved squatting or kneeling. The G-Spot is located on the upper wall of your vagina; the G-Spot is about the size of a pea and located approximately an inch in from the opening and toward your pelvic bone. To locate your G-Spot, please see our Female Anatomy Illustration. The G-Spot is stimulated by rhythmic pressure on the front wall of the vagina causing the tissue to swell substantially, enabling a woman to experience deep, intense orgasms. G-Spot exploration is much easier with the help from a toy. Toys like Fun Factory’s Patchy Paul, and the Sutera G-Spot, are designed specifically to target a women’s G-Spot. The Rock Chick is a fantastic dual toy. You insert the narrower end into the vagina, and the wider end rests on the clitoris, then with a gentle one-handed rocking motion the Rock-Chick will stimulate both the G-spot and the clitoris in one action.

P-Spot or Male Prostate
While anal play has been considered kinky and somewhat taboo in the past, it’s not anymore. It's a sexual practice that more than a few men, regardless of sexual orientation, enjoy. It should not be associated, in any way with being “unnatural” or “gay.” In men, this potent pleasure point is the prostate. The P-Spot or male prostate gland is located just below the bladder and its main function is to produce fluid for semen. P-Spot stimulation is triggered by applying pressure on the front wall of the rectum, best achieved by inserting an anal toy or a finger. P-Spot toys are also the ideal shape for male prostate stimulation and actually recommended by doctors for prostate health, (not to mention mind-blowing orgasms). Please see the Male Anatomy Illustration for location of the Prostate gland. The Vibratex Bedazzle is a great toy for “P”-Spot stimulation and we highly recommend the Aneros for men. Men can indulge with this toy and give their prostate a healthy massage when used anally. See our article, The Bottom Line on Anal Sex for additional education on anal sex.

Remote Control Panties
What will they think of next? These fun panties are equipped to vibrate and are controlled by a remote, which can be used up to 12 feet away. Give yourself total control while wearing these panties for a secret thrill or give the remote to your partner. Imagine sitting in a quite restaurant or night out on the town and receiving pleasurable vibrations when you least expect them—let the fun begin! Check out our Astrea II Remote Vibrating Thong.

Anal Plugs (Butt Plugs)
There are two main factors to consider when choosing anal plugs; size and non-vibrating versus vibrating. It’s really up to the purchaser. Anal plugs are usually diamond-shaped with a thin neck and a flared base, the flared base prevents the plug from slipping into the rectum and the wider part in the middle helps the plug stay in place. Both men and woman can derive pleasure from using an anal plug during sex. The back and forth and to and fro motion during sex will enable you to feel the plug massaging your anus, creating a pleasurable stimulation. If you have never tried a plug before, we suggest going with a small one and working your way up from there. We love the Swarovski Crystal Tusy Pushy’s because it is small, non-threatening, fun and has added weight for additional motion pleasure. Be careful when using any anal toy, as unlike the vagina in a woman, anal toys can become lost and we don’t want to see how red your face will be when you are admitted to an emergency room!

Anal Beads
Anal beads cause the sphincter muscles to contract, which can cause orgasms. Beads come in many sizes and materials. If inserted in a man, at the point of reaching climax, gently pull the beads out. Doing so will create a very intense orgasm. This technique takes practice but is worth it. Stay away from anal beads that rough edges and/or seams. Our Fun Factory Flexy Felix is the perfect toy.

Anal Dildos (Prostate Massagers)
Use a dildo anally if you like the in-and-out motion of penetration. Some fit harnesses for use alone. There are many models out, vibrating and non-vibrating. The Vibratex Bedazzle is a great choice for anal play and massaging the prostate. We also highly recommend the Aneros prostate massager.

Dildos
Non-vibrating toys used for both vaginal and anal play. Historians have recorded finding Dildos in many parts of the world and reported they have been used for centuries by women for pleasure. Dildos are sex toys that come in penis or rounded shapes. It can be made of plastic or another material and put inside an anus or a vagina. They do not vibrate.

Penis Pumps
Penis pumps are cylinders that fit over a man’s penis and provide a gentle vacuuming suction causing blood to rush into the erectile tissue creating an engorgement. Penis pumps are designed with the purpose of helping men get an erection or the feeling of receiving felatio. Penis pumps do not permanently enlarge the penis; the effect is only temporary. See Cyberskin Cyclone Force Pump.

Cock Rings
These pleasure rings come in a variety of colors and styles that do and don’t vibrate. Cock rings bind the penis and testicles, trapping blood in the penis, which can result in engorgement, more sensitivity, and a firmer erection. This is a great toy to introduce into the bedroom if you are just beginning to explore toys. See our Screaming O Vibrating Cock Rings.

Cock rings should only be worn for 20 to 25 minutes. If any discomfort occurs, take the ring off immediately. Prolonged use can damage the capillaries and bruise the penis causing soreness. If you have vascular disease, such as diabetes, or nerve disease it is not recommended that you use this product.

Masturbation Sleeves
There are two main choices for masturbation sleeves for men—vibrating and non-vibrating. Both choices come in a choice of colors and materials from elastomer such as the Vibratex Maven - to soft jelly. The vibrating masturbation sleeves usually have pearls embedded into them that provide gentle vibrations and are battery operated. The non-vibrating sleeves are less costly. Both options can be used with lubricant for a more realistic feel. Be sure the lubricant that is used is appropriate for the material the sleeve is made of.

Female Sleeves
Female sleeves are used by slipping them over a cylindrical vibrator or dildo to add a different texture to a smooth vibrator. You may purchase these sleeves separately or in a kit such as the Cyberskin Virtual Reality Sex Kit, which comes with a cylindrical vibe.

HOW DO I INTRODUCE A SEX TOY TO MY PARTNER?
Some people are hesitant to use marital aids or toys because of lack of education or a fear that using them isn’t “normal” or needing them may make their partner angry or hurt or induce fears of in adequacy. Toys are meant to provide pleasure and to enhance your sexual experiences. If you would like to try a toy with your partner, communicate with him/her your desire to do so. Elevate any fears he/she may have. If you meet hesitation after communicating what you want, let him/her watch you with your toy. It may be just the turn on he/she needs to make your sexpecations a reality!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS FOUND IN SEX TOYS?
Vibrators have made great strides over the past 5 years. There are a variety of shapes, sizes and materials available to the consumer. Below is a list of common materials found in vibrators today.

Elastomer
Elastomer is a non-toxic compound that is used that does not contain phthalates. As you may have been told, phthalates are "plasticizers" used to soften PVC vinyls. If vinyls do not have any softeners, they are basically very hard PVC plastic. The more a toy smells, the lower the grade and the more phthalates used. You are probably aware of the terrible chemical smell that many of the "jelly" vibrators give off. This is basically the vinyl off-gassing the large amounts of phthalates.

The Elastomer vibrators we carry are Japanese made from Vibratex—makers of the original Rabbit Pearl, which has been proclaimed by O magazine as the Rolls Royce of adult toys. Vibratex is always at the forefront of adult toys, leading the way with their advanced designs and material selections. We carry The Rabbit Habit (E) and the Rock Your World. They each feel different but are made of the same compound, just cured differently. Elastomer is a medical grade material. Toys made of Elastomer are easy to clean and a bit more expensive. But will worth the price. Individuals who have concerns regarding phthalates might try Elastomer as a safe alternative.

Silicone
Silicone is resilient, retains body heat, and transmits vibrations better than most material. Because it is non-porous, it's easy to clean and disinfect. Silicone is the most common material used in the manufacturing of vibrators—especially waterproof vibrators. The high cost of materials means that you pay a little more- but it is well worth it! Your silicone toy can lead a long and happy life it it's properly taken care of. It can be cleaned with mild soap and water; some can be boiled in water for up to five to ten minutes. Silicone toys come in a variety of densities from very soft to rigid. Silicone is also hypoallergenic so if you are concerned about allergies or adverse reactions to rubber and vinyl or scent sensitive. We carry a great line of silicone vibrators from Fun Factory – A German based company.

Cyberskin
CyberSkin™ a soft material that is intended to feel like human skin. CyberSkin is made by the adult toy manufacturer Topco Sales. Cyberskin toys are made of porous material that cannot be disinfected. Do not use silicone lube with CyberSkin toys as it can melt the toy. CyberSkin is a bit high maintenance; you need to clean the toy between each use if you to preserve its lifelike feel. To keep its silky smooth texture you should sprinkle it with a talc powder or cornstarch. CyberSkin is different from all other materials on the market today. With the creation of CyberSkin it is possible to make adult sex toys with Virtual Touch, an extremely realistic feel like that of the human body. It’s difficult to tell the difference between a CyberSkin vibrator and/or dildo from the human penis, for instance. CyberSkin has memory, and is very flexible so it can recover to its original shape. Research conducted independently by Greenpeace confirms that CyberSkin does not contain phthalates.

Plastic
These toys are usually very smooth, hard and cold. Plastic vibes are usually the cheapest kind to buy. The ones that smell like plastic indicate the presence of phthalates. They are also on the noisy side.

Jelly
Toys made from jelly have a realistic feel to them and are less expensive than those made of Elastomer, Silicone, glass or CyberSkin. The use of water-based lubricant will help ensure easy entry. Jelly toys do not like do not use hot water to clean jelly toys--moderate to warm is suggested.

Rubber
A variety of toys are made of latex rubber. Rubber toys are firmer and are not very lifelike. They’re longevity isn’t as long as the higher grade materials. They are porous and require the same safety precautions as required of CyberSkin toys. IF you are latex sensitive, do not use toys made from rubber.

Chrome, Glass, Lucite, Hard Plastic, Acrylic
Toys made of any of the materials listed above do not contain phthalates and are easy to clean. Do not boil or put acrylic or Lucite toys into the dishwasher. Glass toys tend to hold temperature very well and require less lubricant. Glass in particular have become very popular over the past few years, if you like hard dildos, you may want to give glass a try. E-Glass Ruby Slipper.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ANAL TOY.
A lot of people enjoy anal sex, for good reason: it feels good. The muscles and nerve endings around the anus are very sensitive. All men have prostate glands that can be reached through the rectum and feel really good when stimulated. Women's G-spots are easily stimulated indirectly through anal play. Toys can be a great way to learn how to have anal sex, either through anal masturbation or anal intercourse.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SEX TOY.
Clean your toys. For all us toy lovers out there, keep yourselves safe from bacteria. Use a toy cleaner after you use your toys. Each and every time. Regular soap is not recommended for toy cleaning, as ingredients in everyday soap may be too harsh on and could slowly deteriorate your toy. Before using your toys, you should also examine them to ensure there are no cracks, or edges that may cause you harm.

PERSONAL HYGIENE.
Be clean. Be safe. Be healthy.
Good personal Hygiene makes for great sex. Scent and taste are big sensory triggers for just about everyone. Everyone has been there, kissed someone with other than fresh breath, or snuggled up to someone on a hot summers night only to find out his or her deodorant isn’t working. Don’t let that someone be you. If you have any suspicion, when you know you may be getting lucky, that you may need to freshen up, by all means do so. You’ll feel sexier and more confident. Now, if it’s your partner that isn’t so fresh, don’t be critical with him/her, take the kinder route, and suggest taking a nice hot shower or romantic bath together first. Consider this foreplay as you both lather each other up. Your shower won’t be the only thing steaming!

HOW TO... DEAL WITH FEMININE ODOR.
By Jenn (source: HiddenSelf.com )

For me, being sensual, being sexy, starts with feeling like I'm sexy. Before I even get to the point of worrying about whether I'm shaved, or whether my bra matches my underwear... I worry about smell.

You heard me – smell – and I'm not unusual. Many women have contacted me over the years asking about how to deal with feminine odor. The ‘ecosystem’ we call our vagina is just that: a delicate balance of chemicals, moisture, and good bacteria and yeast organisms that, when in balance, keep you clean and healthy. The vagina is naturally an acidic (low pH) environment, and the microorganisms that we want to be there thrive in these lower pHs.

When this delicate balance is disturbed (by eliminated too many of one type of beneficial organism or by raising the pH to make it more basic), then you have a problem… often resulting in itching, discharge, or… odor.

In English, introducing anything that might alter the chemical balance of our favorite ‘chemistry set’— like antibiotics, over-the-counter topical treatments, douches, some lubes, spermicides, what we wash ourselves with, or even the sperm of new sexual partners — can alter the chemistry of our vagina, disrupting our pH balance, and causing the aforementioned itching, discharge, or odor (or a combination of). The best way to combat feminine odor (and the yeast/bacterial infections that can cause it) is to help your vagina keep its natural pH balance:

~ Watch what pH-changing foods/drinks you ingest. Eat lots of (organic) yogurt helps supply more beneficial bacteria. Avoid ingesting too many acid-forming foods and beverages like sweets or coffee and alcohol.

~ Be careful what chemicals you let near your nether regions. Soap is basic (high pH) and is one of the most common things to mess with your body’s pH, so I advise using a feminine wash (there are some you can get at your grocery store, but I prefer Sliquid’s Splash Feminine Wash because their products are always 100% glycerin-free, the wash is formulated from coconut derivatives, and the people behind it are such chemistry nerds I know they are doing what’s best for my girl parts).

FYI, here are the pHs of some of the common soaps on the market… any pHs that aren’t balanced (7.0, Dove is the only one listed here with that pH) can cause trouble.

SOAP pH
Camay 9.5
Dial 9.5
Dove 7.0
Irish Spring 9.5
Ivory 9.5
Lever 2000 9.0
Palmolive 10.0
Zest 10.0

~ Soap isn’t the only chemical you’re putting near your parts. scented toilet paper, tampons, laundry detergent, and vaginal sprays can all affect a sensitive vagina.

~ Lube is another culprit for messing with your vaginal chemistry. I wrote more in depth in my article about lubes (click here to read it); in short, many contain glycerin, a derivative of sugar, which cause yeast infections in many women (including myself). That’s one more reason we support Sliquid lubes on this site… they are made with plant cellulose instead of glycerin, and won’t knock your pH off.

~ Don’t over-wash. I used to do this. I thought, I must not be clean enough, and would bathe down there both morning and night. Turns out I was aggravating the problem; by taking away all of the good bacteria that keep the smell at bay.

Clean your toys.
For all us toy lovers out there, keep yourselves safe from bacteria. Use a toy cleaner after you use your toys. *****Each and every time. Regular soap is not recommended for toy cleaning, as ingredients in everyday soap may be too harsh on and could slowly deteriorate your toy.

Before love and after love.
Wipes come in all different scents and sizes and are used for either quick and easy clean up or applied pre-intercourse to stimulate the genitals. We’ve tested a few, for fragrance and thickness and our top picks are Afterglow Wipes and Pleasure Wipes.

Condoms
Allow yourself to enjoy safer sex. Develop a positive attitude towards safer sex that will enable you to escape the pressures of doing it without protection. Use your humor and imagination to develop new and exciting strategies for dealing with this new kind of sex.

Condoms have grown in popularity over the last decade and manufacturers have accommodated the public with a variety of different choices from scented, flavored and fit. If you are in the market for a new condom, be sure to test them out for fit before intercourse and have a tried a true back up, just in case.

If you are not in a monogamous relationship, it is best to be safe and use condoms during vaginal, oral or anal intercourse to prevent pregnancy and STDs. It is recommended to use condoms on personal toys that are not medical grade silicone (these usually include lower-grade vibrators). If you share your toys, you should take the precaution and use a condom. Be sure to store your condoms correctly and use a new one for each sexual act. Condoms do not prevent transmittal of STDs or prevent pregnancy 100%.

Unlubed Condoms
Dry condoms allow you to apply the lubricant of your choice.

Lambskin Condoms
These are a non-latex option. These condoms are not made from lambskin but rather lamb intestine. They tend to break more often than latex condoms and are not recommended to use for blocking HIV, but are used to prevent pregnancy. ***Users like the feel of these condoms during sex. If you choose to use lambskin condoms, be sure you know your partners sexual history to prevent STDs.

Female Condoms
Are made to be worn internally. It can be inserted ahead of time and is designed to give a woman more control over condom use. These are effective, but user error is not uncommon. Be sure to read the directions.

Dental Dams
Dental Dams provide the best protection during oral sex. This includes vaginal (cunnilingus) and anal (analingus). Dental Dams create a barrier to bodily secretions during oral sex. They are latex sheets that fit your mouth and come in a variety of colors. Be sure to read the instructions on the package and hold them up to a light to ensure there are no holes before using them. These can be used with water-based lubrications for added stimulation. As with condoms, Dental Dams are not reusable.

Note: If you experience an allergic reaction to latex condoms or nonoxynol-9 (an ingredient found in many condoms), consult with your doctor or local pharmacist for alternatives to latex or nonoxynol-9.

THE LOWDOWN ON LUBRICANTS.

Why should I use lubricant?
Lubricants provide needed moisture, which creates slicker conditions to make sex more enjoyable. Estrogen levels may fluctuate throughout a women’s life making bodily fluids lessen or dry up. Contributing factors such as menopause, menstrual cycles, smoking, stress, alcohol, prescription drugs, coffee, childbirth, personal health and weather conditions may also affect a women’s estrogen level. The added moisture lubricants provide can make the world of difference in the pleasure you experience during sex. If you have never used lubricants, give it a try; you may never go back to natural! For men, lubricants can make for much more pleasurable masturbation.

Which lubricant should I use?
There are a variety of different brands of lubricants. What’s important to note is the type of lubricant that is right for you—water-based, oil-based or silicone based. Here’s a handy comparison chart to help you determine which may be best for you and your toys.

There are basically three types of lubricants: Silicone, Water based and Oil based.

LUBRICANT COMPARISON CHART
Water Based Silicone Oil Based Flavored
Duration Dries quicker than others Yes Yes Are water based so dry out quicker
Latex Safe Yes Yes No Yes
Toy Safe Yes Has a risk of deteriorating lower end silicone toys. Not safe with latex toys or condoms. Yes
Stain Sheets No-Water soluble. It can, but on mainly darker colored sheets. Yes Depends on coloring.
Irritate Skin Depends on ingredients and/or your own personal sensitivity. No Do not use vaginally. Depends on ingredients and/or your own personal sensitivity.
Easy Clean Up Yes Soap & water. Safe Suds or Afterglow wipes. Hardest to clean up. Wipe off with soap or water and if on bedding, let soak. Depends on ingredients & coloring.
Oral Yes No, too much will upset your stomach. No Yes
Vaginal Yes Yes No, can cause yeast infections. Maybe, some contain sugars (or glycerin), which cause yeast infections.
Anal Yes Yes Depends on personal preferences. Yes
Male Masturbation Yes, but dries quicker. Yes Yes Yes

* When in doubt, use a condom if using a toy. We suggest Afterglow wipes, Pleasure Wipes or Safe Suds for easy clean up.
** Never use cooking oils, Vaseline or other creams as lubricants.

TIPS FOR USING LUBRICANTS.
  • Start with a dime-sized drop of lubricant and add more if needed.
  • Use a drop or two of lubricant on the inside of condoms to intensify sensation and movement (also helps keep condoms from breaking).
  • Warm up lube in your hand first to keep from making your partner chilly.
  • Silicone lube doubles as massage oil and because it won’t dissolve easily in water, is great for play in the hot tub or shower. Try Pjur Eros, as we are big fans of this product. Pjur Eros Original and Bodyglide formulas are non-tacky and silky smooth.
  • Some people have allergies to methyl or propel paraben, so if you tend to have a reaction, stay away from lubes with these ingredients.
  • If you are using lubes with numbing agents such as Tush Eze to avoid pain but still experiencing pain, stop. Your body is trying to tell you it isn’t ready for the sexual activity you are involved in. Slow down, let your bodies adjust, use more lubricant and be patient.
  • If you are having allergic reactions (swelling, abundant yeast infections or pain during sex) and use either condoms or latex based toys, you may be allergic to your toy, not your lube. Try a medical grade silicone toy made by Fun Factory or Vibratex and see if it helps.
  • Oil lubricants can get trapped inside the vagina and cause infection. Never use Vaseline or petroleum jelly on a toy as it will break down the material and decrease the toy’s self-life.

PHEROMONES.

Pheromones are airborne chemicals, which are emitted from a person or animal to attract the opposite sex. It’s believed that pheromones are detected on an instinctual, subconscious level. You don't know that you're receiving them, but you are. Pheromones are detected through the Vemeronasal Organ in the nose. The Vermeronasal Organ functions as the distinct sensory apparatus that detects pheromones. People have two small holes on both sides of the hard divider in the nose. A group of clear cells lies just behind these holes. These cells are similar in appearance to nerve cells. Scientists have concluded these cells are responsible for detecting human sex pheromones. The pheromones then transmit a signal to the hypothalamus in the brain, sending a chemical message of sexual attraction. Many animals emit pheromones. Pheromones can be very powerful. For example, cats and dogs "in heat" attract other cats and dogs from miles away, emitting their natural pheromones. Mating is a natural instinct in both animals and humans. Sexual chemicals are what drive those instincts.

There are many types of cologne and sprays in the marketplace. They are generic pheromones that you either spray or splash onto your body, bedsheets or clothing. They are intended to mimic your body's natural pheromones. Try our Silky Sheets Spray, Pure Instincts Cologne or our Pheromone Candles.
